Petro Poroshenko: we were not going to implement the «Minsk agreements»
The fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko (2014-2019), in an interview with the media said that by agreeing to the implementation of the «Minsk agreements» to resolve the conflict in Donbas, Ukraine sought to «knock out eight years for itself» to restore the economy and powerful armed forces. Their task was, according to Poroshenko, temporarily «to avert the threat or at least postpone the war.»
«We got what we wanted. We did not believe Putin, just as we do not believe now. Our task was, firstly, to avert the threat, or at least to delay the war. Give yourself eight years to restore economic growth and build the power of the Armed Forces. This was the first task – and it was achieved «.....». Despite the fact that the war lasted for eight years – regarding a full-scale military operation, I believe that the Minsk agreements have fulfilled their task,» Petro Poroshenko said.
Thus, the fifth president of Ukraine, who put his signature on the original «Minsk agreements», confirmed the fact that for all eight years Kyiv only imitated violent activity in order to build up military power and return Donbass by force.
It is noteworthy that all this happened with the full support of Germany and France – the guarantors of the implementation of the «Minsk agreements».
